Hammer Down

This bike was a retirement gift.

That single fact shaped everything about it. A retirement bike isn't built for
the season ahead — it's built for the years ahead, for a rider who has just been
handed the one thing that was always in short supply. So it starts with
titanium: a frame that doesn't fatigue, doesn't corrode, and won't look dated in
twenty years. Built to fit one rider properly and then simply keep working, for
as long as he wants to ride it.

The finish is where the occasion shows. A deep mottled bronze — root beer, as
it's known around the shop — that shifts between copper, amber and near-black
as the light moves across it, hand-applied across the main triangle and carried
onto the fork, the stem and the tops of the bars. Behind it, the seatstays and
chainstays are left in raw brushed titanium, and gold anodized Chris King 50th Anniversary Edition hubs, seat collar
and headset hardware pick up the warmth at either end. It's an unhurried color
on a bike built for unhurried years.

Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 shifting, ENVE carbon wheels on Pirelli P Zero Race tires, hydraulic disc
brakes - a build with nothing to prove and nothing that needs upgrading.

Frame

Custom Mosaic titanium frameset, hand-applied finish

A titanium road frame finished in a deep mottled bronze that shifts between copper, amber and near-black in changing light, applied across the main triangle and carried onto the fork, stem and handlebar tops. Seatstays and chainstays left in raw brushed titanium, with the MOSAIC wordmark knocked out of the pattern along the down tube.

Drivetrain

Shimano Dura-Ace Di2, hydraulic disc

Electronic shifting front and rear, with a wide-range cassette for long days and steep finishes.

Wheels & Tires

Deep-section ENVE carbon laced to gold anodized Chris King 50th Anniversary hubs that answer the warm tones in the paint, running Pirelli P Zero Race TLR tires.

Cockpit/Suspension

Handlebar, stem and seatpost finished to match the frame, black bar tape · Gold anodized Chris King 50th Anniversary hubs and headset hardware

The finish continues off the frame onto the stem and the tops of the bars, so it stays in view from the saddle rather than only in photographs.

Customizations

Hand-applied finish across frame and cockpit; gold anodized hardware; stainless bottle cage

The color was chosen for warmth rather than volume — it reads near-black at a distance and opens into copper and amber up close. Gold anodized hubs, seat collar and headset hardware carry that warmth to both ends of the bike, against raw brushed titanium stays.

Build Brands

At Alpha Bicycle Studio, every custom build begins with a conversation. Riding
style, goals, terrain, fit, and aesthetics all play a role in shaping the final
product — and now and then, so does an occasion. A retirement gift is a
particular kind of brief. The bike has to be right the first time, and it has to
still be right a long way down the road. That's exactly what titanium, a proper
fit, and a considered build are for. Because the best bikes aren't the ones you
ride for a season. They're the ones you're still reaching for years later.
