Cima is Italian for summit, an appropriate name for Sarto's newest road platform and for a bike destined for Aspen, Colorado. Built for a rider who spends much of his time climbing at elevation, this made-to-measure Cima combines Sarto's tube-to-tube construction with a custom finish that highlights the craftsmanship behind the frame.
Designed Around the Rider
The roads around Aspen demand a lot from a road bike. Independence Pass climbs above 12,000 feet, while Maroon Creek and Castle Creek offer long, sustained climbs through some of Colorado's most demanding terrain.
For this rider, climbing performance was a priority. The Cima was designed around his fit, riding style, and the roads he rides most often.
Unlike a standard production frame, this Cima was built to measure. Sarto begins with the rider's fit and cuts each carbon tube specifically for that individual at its workshop in the Veneto region of Italy. Every Cima is available through this process, allowing the frame to be built around the rider rather than the other way around.
Carbon, Left Exposed
The finish is one of the first things that stands out.
Rather than covering the carbon completely with paint, Sarto left the material visible beneath a deep gloss finish. The carbon has a distinctive marbled, silvered appearance that changes across the frame, with different sections revealing different patterns in the material.
In direct sunlight, the finish takes on subtle blue tones. In the shade, it becomes considerably darker. No two sections are exactly alike.
The result is a finish that feels integrated into the frame rather than applied to it.
Sarto Cima
The Cima is Sarto's newest road platform, drawing on the development of the Seta Plus and Raso.
Like other Sarto frames, the Cima is constructed using a tube-to-tube process. Individual carbon tubes are formed and cut before being joined together at the frame's junctions. The lugs are wrapped by hand and the junctions are bonded rather than molded into a single monocoque structure.
That construction method is central to the ride quality Sarto is pursuing.
Rather than treating the frame as one continuous carbon structure, the tube-to-tube construction allows each section of the frame to contribute independently to the overall ride. The result is a frame designed to balance efficiency and stiffness with the ability to absorb the vibration and imperfections that come with long days on the road.
For a bike built around climbing, that balance is important.
The Cima is light, responsive, and efficient when the road points upward, but composed enough to remain confident when the elevation starts to come back down.
